STATEMENT OF INTENT

I intend to create a 3-minute music video, signed to sony music, alongside a working website to help enhance promotion. In order to meet the requirements of my selected brief i will use the four areas of theoretical framework (representation, language, industries and audiences) to guide the products. This will also contribute to my intended communication of meaning. In my video, i will have around 5 different teen girls who will be presented with individual styles and appearances, supporting my intention to share the message that it is normal to be unique and accepting of this. This representation will appeal to young women of similar social grades as the cast (around C demographic) when they identify with them and potentially a secondary audience of males as the girls could become gazed upon. However, i intend to divert from this expectation by empowering the girls with no sign of men through-out and focusing on the individuality and independence of them. To further emphasise this message, i will use close-up shots, more often than long-shot, in order to represent the girls as the most significant features and enable watchers to focus in on the finer details. Additionally, I feel it is important I ensure to feature a range of locations in order to reflect the variety of places different girls may be attracted to. To reinforce my intended message to viewers, there will be a repetitive mood of happiness and joy reflected in girls facial expressions and body language no matter where the scene, highlighting that you can be free to express yourself in whichever setting appeals to the likes of your interest best. In regards to media industries, the brief states the use of 'Sony Music' so at the end of my music video I will include the company logo, as a form of branding, which will contribute to the professional outlook of the product due to it having a roster which includes a broad array of both local artists and international superstars.

The way I intend to link the chosen media product to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of the production will be through the construction of an interactive website giving an insight into my created product and acting as one form of promotion. I will ensure that my website continues to remain suitable for my target audience through the theme expressed in my image, text and layout choices. Specifically, I hope to advocate my desired idea of joy and individualism through the use of bold colours, like yellow, which hold connotations such like these. Further more, I think its important for me to promote the artists social media platforms on here, like Instagram and Twitter for instance, in order to enhance advertisement and audience interactivity, especially considering the specified 16-25 year old audience demographic I am attempting to appeal to who are more than likely to engage with these sites on a regular basis.

NEA PLANNING PART 6: SCHEDULE

The purpose of this task is for me to identify potential designing and production dates; attempting to stick to them as much as possible. I think it's important to have a schedule to go by during the production process as without organisation, little but important tasks may be missed out, affecting the quality of the end result. Further more, it means that I will be motivated to get set tasks completed on time due to the obligation I feel to keep up with the calendar requirements.

One activity I am likely to struggle with is producing graphics and logos on photoshop as my skills are not so strong on this software due to not having used it in a while. Therefore, I will be watching tutorial videos on YouTube which will help me understand the different applications better, developing my knowledge and enabling me to produce work of a higher standard on there.

Another activity I may struggle with is coming up with layout ideas for my website. However, I can easily gain inspiration through online research and accumulate several designs which can be adapted to fit the needs of my own pages.

Finally, I may at first find it difficult to get professional looking shots for my video and website as I lack great experience in photo/videography, although I do have a little. However, practise does make perfect so if the shots need to be taken several times to achieve the desired outcome they definitely will be.

NEA PLANNING PART 3: PRODUCT PROFILE

This planning task will be useful in influencing my stylistic decisions and the type of material/shots i would like to use in my video. In addition, it will help me decide specific content aspects such as: who will be featured, the style (e.g. performance based or narrative?) and location/settings, etc.
NEA PLANNING PART 4: LOCATION INFORMATION

The purpose of this task is to identify the locations I intend to use in my music video, whilst assessing its suitability and the difficulties which could arise when filming there.

NEA PLANNING PART 5 - CASTING

The purpose of this task is to help me identify the actors/models I will use in my products along with the qualities which they bring, reasoning my decision to feature them. Specifically to my own video, the main message I intend to employ is individuality across females and so the selection of my cast was predominately based on the discovery of unique qualities in the girls.
